There are a number of legislative initiatives that we would like to bring to your attention and afford you the opportunity to support.  This will probably be the first of several emails during this legislative session for this very purpose.

Senate Joint Resolution 10 (SJR10):  This bill looks to provide a %50 property tax exemption for active emergency first responders or retired emergency first responders.  

There will be a Rules Committee meeting to discuss SJR10 this Wednesday, February 19th, at 8:30 am.  You can support by being at the State Capitol in person for the meeting (Room 321), or by joining the Zoom meeting by going here: https://www.nmlegis.gov/Committee/Standing_Committee?CommitteeCode=SRC  

Senator Jay Block is the sponsor of this bill.  He is also working on two other bills:

1.) Bring back a 20 year retirement

2.) Extend full insurance to 5 years after retirement

We will provide information on those bills and others of value to the membership as we can.
